Raimonds Vējonis
On Wednesday, 21 June 2017, President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis met with Jēkabs Straume, the new Head of the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) in the Riga Castle.

The President of Latvia congratulated J.Straume on his appointment and wished to work tirelessly for the benefit of Latvia.

Raimonds Vējonis emphasised that he expected the KNAB to be able to combat corruption at all levels of state administration.

The KNAB plays an important role in building public confidence in state power. Therefore, while combating and preventing corruption, it is essential for KNAB to take measures for raising public awareness and thus reducing tolerance towards corruption in the country as a whole.
