On 15 February, within the framework of the Munich Security Conference, President Edgars Rinkēvičs, met with the Hereditary Prince of Liechtenstein, Alois Philipp Maria, to discuss bilateral cooperation and support for Ukraine to ensure Russia’s accountability.
President Rinkēvičs expressed Latvia’s readiness to continue cooperation within international organisations, including efforts to hold Russia and its officials accountable for war crimes. He also welcomed the close collaboration between Latvia and Liechtenstein on the establishment of a Special Tribunal. The President emphasised that the principles and mechanisms of the Special Tribunal must be acceptable to Ukraine.
During the meeting, the two officials also discussed the next steps towards establishing an international compensation mechanism, including the implementation of a Register of Damage to document the harm caused to Ukraine as a result of Russia’s aggression.
