On 23 February President Edgars Rinkēvičs met with the Chairman of the World Federation of Free Latvians (PBLA) Pēteris Blumbergs as well as the members of the Board of the PBLA.
"The main task of diaspora organisations is to maintain the connection between compatriots and Latvia. The global Latvian in the 21st century is and will be part of the world. Latvians around the world can contribute to Latvia's development. This is equally true in the economic, educational, scientific and cultural spheres," said E. Rinkēvičs.
During the meeting, an exchange of ideas took place on the involvement of the diaspora in representing Latvia's economic and security interests in the world. The President of Latvia expressed the importance of promoting remigration and addressing practical issues related to it for the development of Latvia's economy and economic growth. Additionally, President Rinkēvičs appreciated the support provided by the PBLA to Ukraine.
