President of Latvia: Madona Region is characterised by a quality living environment

On 6 November, President Edgars Rinkēvičs paid a working visit to Madona region. At the beginning of his working visit, the President visited Ērgļi Secondary School, where he met with teachers and pupils of 9-12 grades. In Bērzaune parish, E. Rinkēvičs visited the juice, berry extract and concentrate production company "Pharmeko Lettland" Ltd, which is the largest foreign investor in the municipality by turnover in 2022. In Lazdona parish President Rinkēvičs visited the milk processing company JSC "Lazdonas piensaimnieks".

"Madona region is the largest municipality in Vidzeme, which is both a great challenge and a great opportunity for the municipality, entrepreneurs and all residents of Madona municipality. Today I have got to know only a part of the vast and beautiful Madona municipality. After the administrative-territorial reform, the administration of the region is striving for a balanced and steady development within the entire municipality, creating an attractive and high-quality living environment for the residents of the municipality. It is the support for the creation of a favourable business environment and the attraction of foreign investment, accessible and high-quality municipal services aimed at the development of the whole region, that are the basis for every resident of Madona - from Ērgli, Lubāna and Cesvaine - to want to stay and develop in their home region. I wish to continue this work," said President E. Rinkēvičs after his visit to Madona municipality.    

In Arona parish of Madona municipality, President Rinkēvičs got acquainted with the work of the multifunctional centre "1. stāvs", which is a local community centre for all generations - young parents together with their babies, young people, adults and seniors.

In Lazdona parish the President of Latvia got acquainted with the activities of the sports and recreation base "Smeceres sils". The development of the sports and recreation base "Smeceres sils", which is managed by the municipality, is one of the main reasons why several large-scale international sports events have been held in Madona in recent years. This winter, from the end of January to mid-March, Madona will be home to four major sporting events.

In order to get familiar with the business environment and challenges in the municipality, President Rinkēvičs visited Madona Business Development Centre. Madona municipality provides support to entrepreneurs in the development and implementation of new or significantly improved products, services, technologies, as well as in the development of business activities.

At the end of his working visit, the President of Latvia met with the residents of Madona municipality at the Madona Culture House.
