Representatives of Finance Latvia pointed to extensive changes implemented in scope of its Moneyval ‘homework’ and underlined the importance of communicating the progress to international partners in restoring the overall trust towards Latvia’s financial sector.
Egils Levits praised the impressive progress and successful tackling of several problems that overshadowed Latvia’s financial sector. Finance Latvia representatives emphasised that cooperation with Financial Intelligence Unit has significantly improved. As far as the cooperation with Financial and Capital Markets Commission is concerned, Finance Latvia underlined that it is looking forward to building a meaningful and constructive dialogue with the new leadership of the Commission.
Meeting also focused on tackling of the shadow economy, mortgage lending and bank mobility for regional banking service coverage.
