Today, President of Latvia Egils Levits met with President of Moldova Maia Sandu in capital of Ukraine, Kiev, where heads of both states are attending the launch of international Crimean Platform.
Latvia will continue to support Moldova’s European aspirations by offering its pragmatic reform experience and expertise, Egils Levits confirmed to Maia Sandu. President of Moldova thanked Latvia for support and underlined that Moldova will make good use of Latvia’ s experience and it is really grateful for such help.
One of the key topics discussed during the meeting was strengthening of the rule of law and judicial system transformation in Moldova. Egils Levits shared Latvia’s experience in transforming judicial system and implementing anti-corruption framework, emphasising the potential role of Latvian universities in training Moldovan experts.
Maia Sandu confirmed Moldova’s intention to expand trade and economic ties with Latvia.
President Sandu also invited President of Latvia Egils Levits to pay an official visit to Moldova in near future.
