Today, during the visit to Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zürich), President of Latvia Egils Levits and Institute’s staff discussed cooperation with Latvian researchers and Latvia’s full membership in the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN).
Latvia is currently an associated member state of CERN and several Latvian researchers are already taking part in various studies.
Management of the Institute explained to President Levits in which areas it already has and intends to implement collaborative research activities with CERN. Both sides agreed that strategic development of Europe requires all European scientists to make concerted efforts to achieve further progress with ambitious research projects.
President also invited experts of ETH Zürich to visit Riga Technical University and its secondary school to meet the future and up and coming researchers of RTU.
