During the meeting, the President of Latvia appreciated the political dialogue between the countries and acknowledged the need for further activation of political consultations, exchange of business delegations, and the dialogue among migration experts.
“Latvia-Vietnam economic cooperation still has untapped potential. It is expected that the bilateral agreement on prevention of double taxation and tax evasion signed today will be another aspect for facilitating this cooperation,” admitted Raimonds Vējonis.
The Vice-President of Vietnam indicated that Vietnam was interested in closer cooperation with Latvia in education because the high-quality education system in Latvia attracted Vietnamese students. Vietnam is also interested in Latvia’s experience and training in the elimination of explosive materials, as well as in closer cooperation in aviation.
Both officials agreed that there was potential to develop a more active tourism flow between Latvia and Vietnam.
During her working visit to Latvia on Friday, October 20, the Vice-President of Vietnam will meet with Madam Speaker of the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia Ināra Mūrniece and Minister of Foreign Affairs Edgars Rinkēvičs. Visits to the Riga Technical University, company Madara Cosmetics, as well as to the Latvian National Museum of Art and the Rundale Palace are also planned.
