On 14 October, President Edgars Rinkēvičs paid a working visit to Berlin, Germany.

During the meeting with the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, bilateral relations, regional security and support for Ukraine, as well as current issues on the European Union’s agenda were discussed.

President of Latvia welcomed the excellent bilateral collaboration and noted the potential for economic cooperation. "I am very pleased that the Minister of Economics of Latvia and a delegation of more than 130 representatives of companies and municipalities are participating in this visit. This confirms the close bilateral relations between Latvia and Germany and the potential for economic cooperation, particularly in digitalisation, sustainable energy and defence," said E. Rinkēvičs.

President of Latvia thanked Germany for its contribution to strengthening the security of the Baltic States and underscored the need to enhance the European defence industry and to continue comprehensive support to Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression until the victory of Ukraine.

On the first day of the working visit, the President of Latvia also met the Federal Minister for Digital and Transport Volker Wissing, opened the Latvia-Germany local government forum Latvia-Germany Synergy: a driving force for digital transformation, met with representatives of Siemens Energy, and gave interviews to the German media outlets Handelsblatt and Deutsche Welle.
