On 11 March, President Edgars Rinkēvičs visited the Riga division of the unmanned aerial vehicle manufacturing company “Edge Autonomy” and the Latvian military technology company “Origin Robotics” in Mārupe.
During the visit, President Rinkēvičs familiarised himself with the operations of both companies, their production of unmanned aerial vehicles and other technologies, as well as their applications. Additionally, the President discussed with company executives their development plans and collaboration with the defence sector.
President Rinkēvičs commended the capabilities of Latvia’s military technology manufacturing companies and emphasised the importance for the defence sector to establish long-term cooperation with Latvia’s defence industry. "The development of the defence industry in Latvia is crucial for ensuring effective defence capabilities for the National Armed Forces, as well as for providing military support to Ukraine. Latvia’s military technology manufacturers possess significant expertise and successfully compete in the international market. It is essential for the defence sector to establish a long-term cooperation agreement with Latvia’s defence industry. This will enhance both the capabilities of the National Armed Forces and the overall development of Latvia’s defence sector," said E. Rinkēvičs.
