Actress Anta Krūmiņa was born on 15 June 1934 in Asūne parish. She graduated from the Faculty of Theatre of the Latvian State Conservatorium in 1956. After graduation, Anta Krūmiņa started her career at the Youth Theatre and, in accumulating a broad and diverse portfolio of roles, became a beloved actress for many generations of theatre-goers. From 1956 until 1992 she worked at the Youth Theatre. Her most notable and popular roles are Winnie-the-Pooh (in “Winnie-the-Pooh), doll Malvina (in “The Adventures of Buratino”), Maija (in “Maija and Paija”), Pippi (in “Pippi Longstocking”) and Gypsy Girl Ringla (in “Gypsy Girl Ringla”). The actress has lent her voice to audio recordings of many popular novels and fairy tales. Anta Krūmiņa was appointed an Officer of the Order of the Three Stars in 2009.
