On 28 November, President of Latvia Egils Levits, took part in a Three Seas Initiative event in scope of EXPO 2020 DUBAI to discuss investments in the Three Seas region with potential investors. Event was also attended by H.E. Jamal Saif Al Jarwan, Secretary General of The United Arab Emirates International Investors Council.
President of Latvia emphasised the geopolitical and economic significance of the Three Seas Initiative, which serves as a platform for cooperation on enhanced connectivity between the 12 European Union member states in the region between Baltic, Adriatic and Black sea. President Levits mentioned rapid growth and predictable, harmonised investment rules as one of the key advantages of the Three Seas region. He also reminded that next Three Seas Summit and Business Forum in June of 2022 will be hosted by Latvia.
Three Seas Initiative investment programme was presented by Kaspars Rožkalns, Director of the Latvian Investment and Development Agency, Reinis Bērziņš, Chairman of the Board, ALTUM, and Jakub Kumoch who represented the President of Poland.
The Three Seas Initiative (3SI) was launched on 25 August 2016 during the first summit in Croatia. This cooperation platform brings together 12 European Union member states: Latvia, Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia, with USA, Germany and European Commission participating as main partners.
