On 9 January, President Edgars Rinkēvičs met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania Kęstutis Budrys at the Jūrmala residence. During the meeting, the officials discussed bilateral cooperation, regional security, strengthening transatlantic relations and support for Ukraine.
President of Latvia confirmed that Lithuania is one of Latvia’s closest strategic partners, noting in particular the close political and economic ties between the two countries, as well as the common understanding of issues important for the security of the region. E. Rinkēvičs emphasised the need to further bolster the energy security of the Baltic states, increase spending on security and defence, and continue support to Ukraine. He also underscored the importance to collaborate with allies to enhance protection of critical infrastructure on land and underwater.
