Valsts prezidents 18. novembra koncertā godinās sabiedrības solidaritātes izcilniekus
On 18 November 2019, the Chancery of the President of Latvia and VSIA ‘Latvijas Koncerti’ will offer annual concerts marking the 101st Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic of Latvia at the Latvian National Theatre and in all regions of Latvia.

This year’s theme of the 18 November Proclamation Day concert at the National Theatre is heroism.

During the concert, President intends to honour all those heroes who are serving the modern-day Latvia with pride and humility: Latvian troops deployed on international missions, this year’s winners of international/world championships and Paralympics, social entrepreneurship enablers, non-governmental actors who support vulnerable groups of society, award winning social solidarity activists and volunteers, leaders of the Awakening and members of the national resistance movement, best doctors and medical nurses, award-winning educators and scientists, winners of the international science olympiads and their teachers, winners of the awards of Latvian Journalists’ Association, this year’s winners of international art and music competitions, prominent cultural figures and recipients of the highest honours of Latvia.

Aleksandra Alferenkova (Jaunmārupe Primary School), Antra Troporkova (Cibla Secondary School) and Matīss Kataņenko (Āgenskalns State Gymnasium) – the three winners of the creative school competition who would ‘put on a hat’ of the President of Latvia will make their winning speeches.

According to Artistic Director Dita Lūriņa, “Our desire for freedom, thirst for truth, struggle to break free and strength of will that come from the power of the word. Heroism may manifest itself as action, or it may be a conviction, and it can also be word. Folk songs and exceptional wordsmiths have always been a part of Latvia’s history”.

Programme will include Uģis Prauliņš’ ‘Dievaines’, Emīls Dārziņš’ ‘Melancholic Waltz’, Antiņš’ aria from the Arvīds Žilinskis’ opera ‘The Golden Horse’, final part of Imants Kalniņš’ 5th Symphony, Arturs Maskats’ opus with Broņislava Martuževa poems, Juris Karlsons’ choral composition ‘Rainis. Blumbergs. Joseph…’, Maija Einfelde’ miniature symphony, duet from Ēriks Ešenvalds opera ‘Immured’.
