'Saulkrasti Region has invested in constructing tourism infrastructure, which has been well-received by both locals and visitors. This has made Saulkrasti and Saulkrasti Region an attractive destination for tourism and cultural events not only in summer but also in winter or on a rainy day like today," President Rinkēvičs noted.
During his working visit, the President of Latvia visited the port of Skulte, which is the fourth largest port in Latvia and the largest of Latvia's small ports. The port of Skulte mainly exports timber, including paper wood, firewood, wood pulp, and fuel wood chips, as well as cereals and peat. At the Skulte Port Authority, E. Rinkēvičs got acquainted with the port's activities and development plans, and visited the corrugated cardboard manufacturing company "Skultes kartons" Ltd and the shipbuilding company “ASK Enterprise” Ltd.
During a meeting with young people from the Saulkrasti Youth Council and Saulkrasti Region school councils, President Edgars Rinkēvičs welcomed their participation in shaping the future of their region.
The President of Latvia also toured the grand oak of Sēja, the pride of the region and Sēja parish, as well as the collection of ancient bicycles in the Saulkrasti Bicycle Museum. The museum boasts the largest collection of old bicycles in the Baltic States and is the only one of its kind in Latvia.
