President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis and First Lady of Latvia Iveta Vējone had an audience with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace in London Tuesday, July 19. During the audience, the President of Latvia invited Her Majesty to visit Latvia on the occasion of the centenary celebrations of the state of Latvia in 2018.

 

While presenting the letter of invitation to Queen Elizabeth II, the President of Latvia stressed that the visit of the Queen to Latvia during the centenary celebrations of Latvia would be highly appreciated. The President of Latvia noted that Latvia would celebrate the important anniversary with an extensive cultural program in Latvia and abroad, including the United Kingdom.

 

During the conversation, the President of Latvia stressed that the United Kingdom was an important partner for Latvia that being evidenced by the close cooperation at various levels and in various formats. “Our countries have very close economic ties, making the UK one of the major trading partners of Latvia,” said the President of Latvia.

 

The President of Latvia congratulated Queen Elizabeth II on her 90th birthday once again by wishing her good health and virtue.

 

President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis and First Lady of Latvia Iveta Vējone went on official visit to London, the United Kingdom, which will last from July 18 to July 20. During his official visit, the President of Latvia will have an audience at Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, he will meet Madam Speaker of the UK House of Lords Baroness D'Souza, he will meet Speaker of the UK House of Commons John Bercow, he will visit the House of Daugava Hawks, he will meet representatives of the Latvian community, and he will visit the Headquarters of NATO Allied Rapid Reaction Corps.
