On 4 October, President of Latvia Egils Levits met with the Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš in the Riga Castle and discussed the construction of the fence on the Latvian-Belarusian border. ‘Emergency regulations require us to fence off the border immediately,’ President stressed.
Premier briefed President about government 2022 budget timeline. Finalised budget proposal will be submitted to the Saeima around mid-October.
Meeting also focused on tightening of restrictions due to resurgence of the pandemic and vaccination rate.
