The President of Latvia extends his gratitude to Aldis Laviņš for his contribution as a Justice of the Constitutional Court and successful cooperation

On 1 August, at the Riga Castle, President Edgars Rinkēvičs met with the President of the Constitutional Court, Aldis Laviņš, who is completing his term of office as a Justice of the Constitutional Court. During the meeting, the President of Latvia thanked A. Laviņš for his ten years of service as a judge of the Constitutional Court and for his duties as the President of the Constitutional Court.

President Rinkēvičs expressed the opinion that over the past decade, the Constitutional Court had addressed a number of particularly important issues, including administrative-territorial reform, social security, and the transition to an education system solely in Latvian. During the meeting, the President of Latvia expressed his conviction that the assessment and reasoning provided by the Constitutional Court are important instruments for strengthening the democratic state system and the rule of law. Moreover, the judgments of the Constitutional Court serve as an authoritative source for explaining and justifying Latvia's decisions on various matters at the international level.
