President Edgars Rinkēvičs has expressed his deepest condolences to the family of Jānis Peters and to all who admired the talent of the distinguished Latvian poet, following his passing.
“Jānis Peters was a great master of words and a true patriot of Latvia. Through the power of his thoughts and words, he inspired the Third Awakening and will remain eternal in our memory through his poetry: “In my homeland, I want to become a bell, from which forever new songs shall flow.” I extend my heartfelt sympathies to Jānis Peters' wife Baiba, his family, and all who admired his remarkable talent, as we bid farewell to this exceptional Latvian poet and diplomat,” stated President Rinkēvičs in his message of condolence.
