On Friday, 25 February, President of Poland Andrzej Duda will convene the emergency meeting of NATO Eastern Flank (B9 or Bucharest Nine) heads of state. President of Latvia Egils Levits will travel to Warsaw for the summit. The purpose of the meeting is to exchange views on Russian aggression against Ukraine and regional security.
The first NATO Eastern Flank Summit was held in 2015. It is a platform for discussion between the heads of Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and Slovakia. Previous B9 meeting was held remotely on 10 May 2021, and it was joined by US President Joe Biden.
