Dear teachers and university professors,
Society has entrusted schools and teachers with an important responsibility. You are responsible for shaping our future social environment, for raising and educating our young people. Competitiveness and ambition, as well as humanity, civic awareness and social sensitivity of these young people is in your hands. You build it around values that determine how they perceive the world and interact with others. This set of values reflects the priorities of the society and the way it treats its fellow countrymen and the state. Values, of course, are primarily taught by the family, but school is the one that has the most profound effect on developing child’s value system. Schools and teachers play a key role in raising the awareness about these values and value systems, teaching acceptance and passing these values over to young people. I trust you know how to help young people grow up and will always have the best interests of your pupils in mind!
Dear pupils and students,
Modern life requires us to learn something new every day. Learning gives us experience, shapes our personality. We as individuals and citizen grow stronger and more capable of supporting our country, we are the pride of our families and also every other Latvian in our country. Our people are very talented, each of us has a different set of skills, some have even several of them. That is why I encourage each and every one of you to never stop learning. You need it to make Latvia a modern and sustainable North European country that has strong national values and believes in the rule of law.
I wish everyone good luck and all the best in professional and personal life. Have a good 2020/2021 academic year!
