On 21 June, President Edgars Rinkēvičs met with the Speaker of the Saeima Daiga Mieriņa, Prime Minister Evika Siliņa, Minister of Foreign Affairs Baiba Braže and the newly-appointed Head of the Saeima Foreign Affairs Committee Ināra Mūrniece. The meeting, held at the President's residence in Jūrmala, focused on the discussion of current foreign policy issues.
Senior Latvian officials involved in the implementation of foreign policy discussed the recent Summit on peace in Ukraine, held in Switzerland, preparations for the NATO summit in Washington in July and current issues on the European Union agenda.
The officials agreed on the necessity to maintain political, military, economic, and financial support for Ukraine, as well as on Latvia's priorities for the forthcoming NATO Summit in Washington.
