At the meeting, the President of Latvia stressed, “Cybersecurity imposes one of the greatest challenges for the future not only on a state but also on every citizen. To overcome this challenge much has been already done at national level. However, to ensure the security of our information space and cyber security, the capacity of the responsible institutions must be further enhanced, and public media literacy must be facilitated.”
During the conversation, management of CERT.LV acknowledged that the number of global cyber threats also tended to increase. Therefore, taking preventive measures already today aimed at strengthening the cybersecurity of public authorities and their ability to respond promptly to potential cyber-attacks are of particular importance.
“The experience of the elections in other countries illustrates to us how important the ability of political parties to provide cybersecurity of both their websites and other IT infrastructure is,” added Raimonds Vējonis.
