During the meeting, the President of Latvia expressed the opinion that cultural diversity, which has always been a part of Latvia's identity, serves as a unifying force for all of us. We enrich ourselves and enrich each other. However, it is vital that we are unified in our shared constitutional values and collaborate to enhance the security of the entire society. It is therefore crucial to prioritise the teaching of Latvian in schools and the use of the language in everyday life.
President Rinkēvičs listened to the issues of concern to people of different nationalities living in Latvia - Poles, Ukrainians, Roma, Belarusians, Jews, Lithuanians, Russians, Estonians, Germans, Georgians and Lebanese. The meeting was attended by representatives of Ita Kozakeviča Latvian Association of National Cultural Societies, Confederation of Ukrainians Living in Latvia "VICHE", Association “Ukraiņu – latviešu pērlītes”, the Latvian Gypsy National Cultural Association, the Latvian Belarusian Cultural Society "Svitanak", the Latvian Polish Union, the Latvian Lithuanian Community, the Latvian Estonian Society, the Council of Jewish Communities of Latvia, the Latvian German Union, the Latvian Georgian Society "Samshoblo" and the Latvian-Lebanese Cultural Society.
