“True excellence cannot be told, but an inspirational example can show it. By sharing your experience, you will encourage many other young people to become aware of their strengths and areas where they can improve themselves and reach the peaks of their knowledge,” emphasised President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis on Wednesday, 4 October 2017 while congratulating the winners of the international school subject Olympiads in the Riga Castle.

The President of Latvia acknowledged that knowledgeable individuals form a modern and open society, who are able to critically evaluate their knowledge and are ready to stand up for their opinions, to justify their judgments, and to assess their choices.

“The young people of Latvia, the participants of the international school subject Olympiads, are such individuals, who are knowledgeable and free whose knowledge already builds today and I am convinced that will also build up a strong Latvia in the future,” noted Raimonds Vējonis.

The President of Latvia also thanked parents, teachers, and supporters for their ability to motivate young people not to stop at what has already been achieved, to set new goals, and to achieve them.

In the Riga Castle, there were 27 students from Cesis, Daugavpils, Jelgava, Jekabpils, Jurmala, Riga, and Ventspils congratulated, who participated in eight international school subject Olympiads, that is, physics, chemistry, biology, informatics, mathematics, geography, philosophy, and the Genius Olympiad this summer. The students showed outstanding results and received three gold medals, three silver medals, fourteen bronze medals, and three Certificates of Recognition.
