Raimonds Vējonis
Dear Mr Prime Minister, Dear Minister of Justice, Distinguished Clerks of Registry Offices, Dear Heads of Local Governments and Dear Guests of the Celebration,   I warmly welcome you on the 95th anniversary of Registry Office System of the Republic of Latvia! You have been managing registers of vital records for 95 years now. Your archive funds contain lists of Latvian families that enable to trace throughout the lives of those families while registering happy events like birth and marriage, as well as sorrowful events.

Dear clerks of Registry Offices, you witness the most important and beautiful life events of our people every day. You are present at the moments, when a new-born is named officially and when families are established.

Your work is extremely important, because families are born in your offices. Marriage is much more than a desire of two persons be together. When a man and a woman corroborate their relations by law, they promise to support and take care of each other. Thus, we undertake responsibility.

Strong families are the basis for national prosperity and sustainability. The family is the fundamental nucleus of our society. The family is one of core values of our society. Registry offices provide an important contribution to strengthening the values laid down in the Satversme (Latvian Constitution).

I would like to thank you for availability, accessibility, and responsiveness that you confirm with your professional job on a daily basis. Registry offices are available throughout Latvia, as population can receive services on registration of vital records in 123 offices.

Thank you also for modernity and the ability to change in time, because conduct of a marriage ceremony is possible beyond the walls of a Registry Office for several years by making the moment important in the life of every person even more colourful and memorable.

I appreciate the incentive commenced by the Registry Offices in organizing a pre-marriage training program by providing valuable support to new families when starting their joint journey throughout the life.

On 4 May 2016, I awarded the Cross of Recognition to two of your colleagues for their distinguished merits in favour of Latvia, id est, lifelong Head of Riga City Pardaugava Registry Office Danuta Šavdine and Head of Ogre Regional Registry Office Lidija Vītola. Today, I would like to congratulate those clerks of Registry Offices, who will receive awards of the Ministry of Justice! I would like to express my gratitude for your professional and selfless work for many years!

With continuing to grow up alongside with the Latvian State and being present at the vital moments in lives of our population, I wish you to continue taking care of the quality and availability of services provided! May positive references from citizens and satisfaction about the work done accompany your work!
