Egils Levits and Maia Sandu discussed the relationship between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union (EU). President Levits confirmed Latvia’s continued commitment to sharing Euro-integration experience with Moldova and helping the country implement necessary reforms. Presidents of both countries also talked about pragmatic ways of promoting the implementation of the rule of law in practice.
Maia Sandu presented her opinion about the general political context in Moldova and current situation in Trans-Dniester region.
President Levits and President Sandu agreed to meet as soon as possible, once the pandemic is over, to discuss how to maintain close relationship between Latvia and Moldova in future and promote EU-Moldova Eastern Partnership dialogue.
