On 16 February, President of Latvia Egils Levits received Lieutenant General Leonīds Kalniņš, Chief of the Defence Staff, at the Riga Castle to congratulate the commander of National Armed Forces on his 65th birthday and present the Presidential plaquette.
‘I am honoured to present you this Presidential plaquette as a token of appreciation for the good cooperation we have had so far. Thank you! Keep up the good job. Latvia can safely rely on its armed forces, and that is to a large extent your accomplishment,’ said Egils Levits as he congratulated Lt Gen Kalniņš.
