Raimonds Vējonis
President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis emphasized that the opening of new production site of “Latvijas Finieris” in Estonia was a bright confirmation of the export capacity and development potential of Latvian timber industry when launching a new production plant of “Latvijas Finieris” in Estonia, birch veneer manufacture "Kohila Vineer".

Raimonds Vējonis welcomed that one of the leading Latvian companies was expanding its operations in the neighbouring country, as the timber industry had a special role to play in the Baltic economies.

The President of Latvia said that the rapid development of the global economy made us assertively working on promotion of the regional competitiveness and resilience to face up to many challenges. “Modern industrial technologies and manufacturing niches combined with environmentally friendly, sustainable, and renewable solutions are the story of our future,” said Raimonds Vējonis.

The President of Latvia appreciated operation of “Latvijas Finieris” in both producing high quality products and its care for the knowledge-based forestry and sustainable use of forest resources.

“The new and modern birch veneer manufacture is an example of environmentally friendly production. The plant building as an environmentally friendly industrial building is built of wooden structures by incarnating continuation of historical traditions of wooden crafts,” said Raimonds Vējonis during the opening of the plant.

During working visit to Tallinn in Estonia, the President of Latvia will meet with President of Estonia Kersti Kaljulaid to discuss the issues of Latvian and Estonian bilateral cooperation and current developments in the region and in the world. In his turn, Raimonds Vējonis will attend the solemn gathering on the occasion of the 98th anniversary of the Proclamation of Independence of the Republic of Latvia, where he will meet with the compatriots living in Estonia.
