On 13 July, President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs met with the Chairman of the Latvian Association of Local Governments Gints Kaminskis in the Riga Castle to discuss current issues of the Association agenda, including the challenges of municipalities and cities after the implementation of the Administrative Territorial Reform.
President Rinkēvičs confirmed his readiness to visit each municipality of Latvia to get acquainted with the work of municipalities and the needs of their residents, educational institutions and business environment. For example, during his first regional visit this year, on 21 July, the President of Latvia will visit Krāslava municipality.
During the meeting, President E. Rinkēvičs and the Chairman of the Latvian Association of Local Governments G. Kaminskis agreed to continue close cooperation, to organise regular meetings and exchange of information and, if necessary, to work together with experts from the Latvian Association of Local Governments.
