On 28 November, President Edgars Rinkēvičs met with Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, Belarusian opposition leader and head of the United Transitional Cabinet, in the Riga Castle.
The President of Latvia praised the active work of S. Tsikhanouskaya and the United Transitional Cabinet. E. Rinkēvičs stressed Latvia's solidarity and support for political prisoners and their families in Belarus, and condemned the brutal repression of civil society and the opposition by the regime of Alexander Lukashenko.
During the meeting, President Rinkēvičs also condemned the Belarusian regime's support for Russia's aggression against Ukraine, in particular the resettlement in Belarus of Ukrainian children deported by Russia. At the same time, E. Rinkēvičs criticised the hybrid attack carried out by the Lukashenko regime on the Latvian-Belarusian border.
