President Rinkēvičs emphasised the significance of Latvia’s participation in the NATO KFOR operation in ensuring regional stability and contributing to the development of the National Armed Forces. He also commended the high level of professionalism demonstrated by Latvian soldiers, which has been recognised and valued by allied forces.
"The participation of Latvian troops in the NATO-led peacekeeping operation in Kosovo is a significant contribution, not only in enhancing each soldier’s individual experience but also in the overall development and advancement of the National Armed Forces through close operational cooperation with allied forces," said President Rinkēvičs.
During his meeting with the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu, President Rinkēvičs emphasised Latvia’s contribution to ensuring stability in Kosovo and the wider region. He also acknowledged Kosovo’s support for Ukraine and its full alignment with the Common Foreign and Security Policy.
E. Rinkēvičs reaffirmed Latvia’s support for the integration of Kosovo and the Western Balkans into the European Union (EU) and for Kosovo’s membership in the Council of Europe. He further noted that Latvia remains committed to supporting Kosovo’s reform process and endorses the lifting of EU restrictive measures on Kosovo.
