“So that significant changes would occur in our country, young and talented people should engage in politics,” emphasized President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis during his meeting with the Presidium of the Youth Saeima on Tuesday.

The President of Latvia called on young people for active social activities, starting from one’s school, city, and county. “The project of the Youth Saeima, which enables active Latvian young people to learn to articulate and defend their ideas, get to know the daily life of a politician, is very important,” said Raimonds Vējonis.

The President heard the thoughts of young people regarding latest developments in the system of education, economic growth of Latvia, and international issues.

During the conversation, the President of Latvia called to pay attention to raising awareness of the young people on politics and willingness to engage themselves and undertake responsibility for the future of our country in the work of the Youth Saeima. Politicians and the decisions made during the political process affect every resident of the country, therefore more young people with good education, far-sighted goals, and the courage to act joining politics is of great significance.

Raimonds Vējonis wished the representatives of the Youth Saeima not to lose their interest in politics and continue to develop their leadership skills in order to run for municipal or parliamentary elections or engage in the politics of Latvia otherwise in the future.
