“Latvia expresses strong and unequivocal support for the territorial integrity of Ukraine,” stressed President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis during his meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mr Pavlo Klimkin on Friday, 29 September 2017, in Riga. The President of Latvia reiterated Latvia’s stance that the view of Ukraine should be respected during the talks on a potential UN peacekeeping mission to eastern Ukraine.
At the same time, Raimonds Vējonis called on Ukraine to accelerate the reforming in the country, especially in the area of justice and anti-corruption. “We know that the reform process has never been easy, but its success will constitute a strong signal to the international community and will strengthen its support to Ukraine,” stated the President of Latvia.
