during his meeting with Auditor General of Latvia Elita Krūmiņa and the representatives of the Supreme Audit Institutions of Georgia, Moldova, Serbia, and Ukraine on Wednesday, December 13, in the Riga Castle.
“While providing sustained support to the Supreme Audit Institutions in Georgia and Moldova, the State Audit Office of the Republic of Latvia has proven to be a significant contributor to the Eastern Partnership countries undergoing the process of change. The State Audit Office of Latvia has transformed from a post-soviet financial inspection authority into a modern audit institution operating by international auditing standards within a relatively short period. Therefore, we can be useful advisors in the management of transformation processes, and we are ready to share the experience we have accumulated,” stated the President of Latvia.
The President of Latvia emphasised the significant progress of the State Audit Office of the Republic of Latvia precisely regarding increasing the proportion and quality of performance audits. Performance audits have the enormous impact on the development of rational and sustainable management systems, which is why these audits are crucial and supportive from a national point of view.
Raimonds Vējonis noted that the conclusions of the audits carried out by the State Audit Office are a valuable tool for all state institutions for the improvement and development of their operation, by highlighting the recommendations of the State Audit Office on the efficiency of the measures to develop the court system in the performance audit.
