President of Latvia Egils Levits will pay a working visit to the Republic of Bulgaria on 7–9 July to take part in the Three Seas Summit and Business Forum, which will take place in Sofia. Agenda of President’s visit also includes meeting with his Bulgarian counterpart, Rumen Radev.

President of Latvia has been invited to speak at two panel discussions organised in scope of the Meeting of the leaders of the Three Seas Initiative (3SI) and  Business Forum and focusing on strong, united and competitive Europe. President Levits intends to underline the importance of greater focus on sustainability-centred and growth-oriented economic strategies for the region and the whole Europe. President of Latvia will be accompanied at the Three Seas Summit and Business Forum by a business delegation coordinated by the Latvian Investment and Development Agency.

The aim of the Three Seas Summit and Business Forum is to promote direct cooperation for implementation of flagship 3SI transport, energy and digital networks projects.

Three Seas Initiative was founded on 25 August 2016 during the first Three Seas Summit in Croatia by 12 European Union member states:  Latvia, Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia. United States of America, Germany and European Commission have joined the initiative as partner countries. There have already been five such summits: in Croatia, Poland, Romania, Slovenia and Estonia. The sixth, this year’s summit of the leaders is hosted by Bulgaria.
