Raimonds Vējonis
During a meeting with President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov on Wednesday, President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis stressed the potential for cooperation between Latvia and Tatarstan and agreed on the need to develop contacts in business, tourism, and culture.

 

Given the fact that Tatarstan was one of the most industrially developed regions of the Russian Federation, Raimonds Vējonis emphasized the need to promote cooperation in transport and logistics, and the opportunities for locating production plants in Latvia for exports of goods to the European Union market during the conversation.

 

Rustam Minnikhanov appreciated Latvia’s openness to new ideas and readiness for closer cooperation.

 

President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis noted operation of Tatar non-governmental organizations in Latvia that contributed to facilitation of Latvia - Tatarstan cultural relations.

 

President of Tatarstan Minnikhanov visited Latvia at the invitation of the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economics Arvils Ašeradens. The visit was aimed at strengthening of economic cooperation, thus Latvian - Tatarstan business forum was held during the visit of the President of Tatarstan.
