The President of Latvia has noted that there are modern concert halls in Rēzekne, Liepāja, and Cēsis. In each of these cities, the concert hall has become a new cultural centre, a magnet that attracts musicians and visitors not only from the surrounding areas but also from the region, Riga, and abroad. It has changed not only the cultural but also the economic and social life of each city.
“On an international scale, we can call Latvia a superpower of the excellence in music. The new concert hall in Riga will be the place for enjoying the musical talents or our country and for the public to cultivate them. It is a chance for us as a country to state clearly to many of the most outstanding Latvian artists that they are welcome and appreciated here much more than anywhere else in the world,” stressed Raimonds Vējonis when addressing the audience.
The President of Latvia indicated that the construction of the concert hall could become a new example for cross-sectoral cooperation, responsible decision-making, and national thinking. It could become an excellent illustration of the joint action of many institutions and people for the future of our country and its people.
“The acoustic concert hall is not a project of today or even a decade. It is an opportunity to tell the story of modern Latvia far into future generations,” concluded Raimonds Vējonis.
