"Bauska region's development has historically been closely linked with the agricultural sector. Today, we met with local farmers to discuss pressing issues and priorities, such as securing operational financing, addressing the demands of the farmers' strike, promoting economic growth in the municipality, slashing bureaucracy, and exploring opportunities to implement the European Green Deal in Latvia," said President of Latvia E. Rinkēvičs. "The municipality's favourable geographical location and developed infrastructure present opportunities to enable the growth of various sectors. The area already boasts impressive manufacturing companies, and Bauska has the potential to emerge as a significant business hub," noted E. Rinkēvičs.
During his working visit, the President of Latvia had the opportunity to visit Vairog EU Ltd, an ammunition manufacturing company, and Vizulo Ltd, a company producing energy-efficient lighting solutions.
The President of Latvia also met with students of the Iecava Music and Art School and observed classes of solfeggio, modern dance, and painting. President Rinkēvičs also spent time with the residents of the nursing home for the elderly and people with disabilities 'Atvasara'.
During the visit, President Rinkēvičs visited the Bauska Castle to learn about its rich history and enjoyed a performance by harpsichordist Ieva Saliete on the double virginal.
Later in the day, the President met with the residents of the Bauska Region at the Iecava Culture House.
