Andris Nelsons was awarded the state awards for his special merit in favour of the State of Latvia, that is, outstanding artistic achievements in classical music, popularization of the name and image of Latvia in the world. Upon receiving the award, he was appointed as the Grand Officer of the Order of the Three Stars.
In her turn, Kristīne Opolais was appointed as the Commander of the Order of the Three Stars. The state awards was granted to her for her great merit in favour of the State of Latvia, splendid artistic achievements and outstanding achievements in the art of opera in Latvia and in the world.
