President of Latvia Egils Levits has awarded Certificates of Merit to singer Margarita Vilcāne and actress Lidija Pupure in recognition of their outstanding professional life and contribution to Latvian music and culture, and also to mark the jubilees of both beloved artists.
‘Your performances on stages across Latvia and the world have always been very professional and elegant, marked by deep respect for your work, dreamy and yet realistic, deeply emotional and spectacular imagery,’ President Levits says when describing singer Margarita Vilcāne.
According to President, actress Lidija Pupure has ‘always been someone who has her own sense of taste, unlike the popular trends at the time, with human, creative and Latvian values at the core of her creative life’.
Special ceremony for Margarita Vilcāne and Lidija Pupure will take place when pandemic statistics improve.
