On Friday, 6 May, President of Latvia Egils Levits and Mrs Andra Levite will visit Valmiera in scope of a regional visit. They will meet with leadership of regional self-government, healthcare, education and non-governmental sector workers, and visit one of the best known companies from Valmiera.
President of Latvia and Mrs Andra Levite will start their working visit to Valmiera by meeting with regional council members and leadership to discuss current challenges and priorities in the region. They will also visit local companies – ‘Valmiermuižas alus’ beer brewery and ‘VALPRO’ metal processing company.
President Levits will also go to Valmiera Post Office 2 to send a special Satversme centenary postcard and postage stamp in honour of the 100th anniversary of Latvian constitution, Satversme. The third discussion in the Satversme debate series ‘Who controls life? Artificial intelligence, privacy, freedom’ will take place at Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences. President of Latvia and youngsters will discuss the benefits and dark sides of technological advancement.
Andra Levite will visit Vidzeme Hospital in Valmiera to meet with medical staff. She will also visit social enterprise ‘Čaklās Bites Bode’ (Busy Bee Boutique) and half-way home of the Social Care Centre.
In conclusion of their visit to Valmiera, President and the First Lady of Latvia will plant sunflowers in support of Ukraine together with local NGO actors.
Valmiera region is the second largest region of Latvia formed after the amalgamation of Beverīna, Burtnieki, Kocēni, Mazsalaca, Naukšēni, Rūjiena and Strenči regions. Its capital is Valmiera. Valmiera is Vidzeme’s national development centre for sports, education, culture, healthcare and business.
