Valsts prezidents un Latvijas Pasaules dabas fonds uzsver Latvijas līdzatbildību klimata pārmaiņu risināšanā

President of Latvia Egils Levits met with the World Wildlife Foundation (WWF) Latvia representatives Jānis Rozītis, Maiga Jentgena and Ilze Jurkāne at the Riga Castle today. WWF Latvia told the President about its core activities, including state of the Baltic Sea, climate change, sustainable food and agriculture policy.

Both sides acknowledged Latvia’s strong potential for becoming a green superpower and setting the example for the rest of the world. Along with efforts of the WWF Latvia ambassadors who have been promoting the idea of sustainable national development across Latvia, public participation was also emphasised.

President of Latvia and WWF Latvia also discussed natural disasters in various parts of the globe and agreed that Latvia is also influenced by these calamities. Latvia is a part of the common ecosystem and crisis in one region of the world may later affect other regions. Therefore, Latvia needs to actively engage in mitigating climate change.
