Meeting focused on European Union’s (EU) foreign policy, namely situation in EU’s Eastern Partnership countries and on the border with Belarus.
President of Latvia and Slovenian Prime Minister also discussed the Digital Services Act package, underlining the positive effect of this proposal on transparency of global digital conglomerates. There are, however, concerns about the impact of mandating these conglomerates to control the content of social media on the rule of law, stressed President Levits. Prime Minister Janša echoed President Levits’ concerns and underlined the need for further in-depth consultation in the Council.
Both officials also talked about adherence to core values of the Union and strengthening of the rule of law.
