On March 4 in Lviv, the President of Latvia Egils Levits met with the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Andriy Kostin to discuss cooperation between Latvia and Ukraine on the establishment of an ad hoc international tribunal to try the crime of Russian aggression in Ukraine.
During the meeting, several models for such an ad hoc international tribunal were discussed as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each model. It emerged from the professional conversation that, in the current situation, it would be appropriate to focus first on the establishment of such a tribunal based on a relevant resolution of the UN General Assembly, however, other options remain in reserve.
Both sides agreed to work closely together on this issue.
