Egils Levits un AAE prezidents sarunājas

Phone call between His Excellency President of United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan took place on 1 June. President Levits delivered condolences to incoming UAE president on the passing of his predecessor, H.E Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and congratulated Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan with the appointment, wishing  all the best with implementing of UAE’ s growth strategies.

President Levits mentioned the meeting with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in November of 2021 during the National Day of Expo2020 in Dubai, which served as a new impetus for deepening of bilateral relations.

H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan confirmed UAE’s interest in deepening cooperation with Latvia and stressed that UAE trade and investment delegation visit to Latvia on 11 May was the first step in this direction. Delegation, headed by UAE Assistant Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs Abdulnasser Jamal Alshaali, signed two memorandums of cooperation. One was signed between Latvian Employers’ Confederation and UAE Federation of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry. The other memorandum of cooperation was signed between Latvian Exporters Association ‘The Red Jackets’ and Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park.

President of UAE reiterated support for the on-going negotiations between development finance institution ALTUM and investment firm Mubadala Development Company about possible joint investment facility.

President Levits praised UAE for its role in the UN Security Council and efforts to strengthen the compliance with international norms and restore peace, especially at the time when Ukraine is defending against Russian invasion.
