On 6 May, during regional visit, President of Latvia Egils Levits and Mrs Andra Levite went to Valmiera Post Office 2 to send a special Satversme centenary postcard and postage stamp in honour of the 100th anniversary of Latvian constitution, Satversme, created by Latvian Post in collaboration with Constitutional Court.
‘As our constitution enters its next hundred years, we can feel proud about strong, democratic Latvia that adheres to rule of law. Let us continue building sustainable Latvia in the next hundred years!’ President of Latvia said as he posted the centenary postcard to Auči, the birthplace of first President of Latvia Jānis Čakste.
First Lady Andra Levite sent her postcard to Vidzeme Hospital, to the next girl that would be delivered at the Maternity Ward. ‘Congratulations on your first birthday! This beautiful world welcomes you! Have a joyful life!’ read the postcard of Andra Levite.
Stamp ‘Satversme 100’ symbolises the impact of robust and strong constitutional values on the life of all residents of Latvia. Postage stamp is designed by Arta Ozola-Jaunarāja, and 50 000 units have been issued.
Postage stamp is accompanied by 800 units of centenary envelopes. Design of envelope has Satversme centenary logo. Centenary theme is ‘read Satversme and find out what it regulates, what values it protects and how it influences our life today, and how it was developed. Satversme centenary logo is designed by Dita Pence. There is a QR code in the background of the envelope. It leads to Satversme centenary webpage www.satversme100.lv, which contains elaborate information about Satversme and centenary celebrations.
