On 16 September, the President of Latvia, Egils Levits, met with Minister for Transport, Tālis Linkaits, at the Riga Castle to discuss developments in the transport sector.
President of Latvia inquired about the progress with Rail Baltica project, railway and public transport development plans, national and European Union Structural Funds investment in maintenance of roads and current situation in taxi industry.
Minister and President also talked about issues related to better sectoral regulation and implementation of progressive policies which facilitate modernisation and adjustment of transport system to make it people and business-centred.
During the meeting, President Levits thanked Minister Linkaits for his considerate approach to various key challenges faced by the sector.
