On 14 May, President of Latvia Egils Levits met with Kristīne Līce, Latvia’s Representative to International Human Rights Organisations, in the Riga Castle to discuss the current human rights issues and current trends in case law of the European Court of Human Rights.
President of Latvia praised Representative to International Human Rights Organisations and her staff for maintaining high professional standards, excellent job in representing Latvia and raising awareness about the significance of human rights in democratic society.
Egils Levits and Kristīne Līce both agreed that it is necessary to continue educating people about the benefits of the European Convention on Human Rights and case law of the European Court of Human Rights, as well as appreciating the standards that have already been achieved.
