‘Latvia is a very beautiful country and I am deeply delighted to have had the opportunity to come to Latvia and discuss bilateral cooperation between our countries despite the difficult situation caused by Coronavirus pandemic,’ said His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.
Prince and President both noted that Latvia and Saudi Arabia should intensify cooperation in fields of digital services, research, pharmaceuticals and other areas. Both countries should also enhance their dialogue in international organisations.
One of the key topics of the meeting between President Levits and His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud was UN agenda, including climate change. President of Latvia emphasised that Latvia strongly believes in global responsibility for climate and plays active role in various initiatives at the UN level, and in scope of the European Green Deal. Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister underlined that ‘Saudi Arabia’s 2030 national development vision is built around economic diversification and renewables, and active participation in UN initiatives’.
President of Latvia and Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister also discussed the situation in the Middle East and Saudi Arabia’s position on guaranteeing regional stability. His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud also gave insight into how countries in the region are dealing with COVID-19 pandemic.
